Career development and local job opportunities
Career Connections online talent community supports the 22 specialist schools in Melbourne’s North West to enhance the students’ career development knowledge and skills. The talent community portal will also provide local entry-level employment, alternative education opportunities and community participation options for young people with disabilities living in the North West metropolitan area.
Specialist school staff, young people with disabilities, parents, employers, local businesses, community services, disability employment agencies, group training organisations, registered training organisations and other community services are encouraged to join Connections Talent Community. Every member will have access to a notice board containing information on local programs and courses as well as useful links and regular community news updates and local jobs.
NW CTS Career Connections Online Talent Community is an initiative of the North West Community Transition Support program (NW CTS). The NW CTS initiative is supported by a 7 LLEN Consortia across the North West Melbourne with Inner Northern as the lead agent.
The benefits to our various members are described below:
North West Specialist Schools
The Career Connections Talent Community will provide the specialist schools with a professional development opportunity to increase students’ career development understanding and skills. Through the use of the online portal in the classroom, you will be able to provide an additional learning tool to provide online learning about careers and how to apply for local jobs. You can also access resources to keep up to date with transition options leading to work or further education opportunities through the noticeboard function.
Young people with disabilities, parents and families
The Career Connections Talent Community will support young people with disabilities and their supporting networks to access up to date and local news, information and events from their community. These will aim to support career development knowledge, skills and planning. The online Talent Community portal will also include local entry-level job opportunities including trainee roles. These will be available for young people who are embarking on their career pathway and are transitioning (or have transitioned) out of specialist schools.
North West Melbourne specialist school staff, students, families and other supporters of young people with disabilities are encouraged to sign up.
As a member of the NW CTS Career Connections Talent Community you can also search and apply for all jobs on the portal, receive email notifications, save searches, shortlist jobs, and create an AirCV. The AirCV is an online, visually formatted version of your resume that you can use to apply for jobs on NW CTS Career Connections.
The NW CTS Career Connections can be used as a tool to enhance work readiness skills. Stay in the loop with our noticeboard news that will have information about events in the local community about opportunities and services.
And if you’re on Twitter, follow us to keep updated on the latest opportunities and news.
